Desert Love

I went to the Phoenix Botanical Garden my first semester at ASU on an assignment for one of my architecture classes. When I was 18, I had no interest in spending my free time taking pictures in the desert. Flash forward 10 years later... I'm now an architecture drop-out, turned amateur photographer, who loves spending time outdoors taking pictures. Funny how things change!

While Shay and I were in Arizona the other week we were not in the greatest of health to go on a long desert hike (which was the original plan), so we decided to take a stroll through the Phoenix Botanical Garden instead. We invited Kristi and Mike to go with us, and what started out as a simple request to "get a nice picture of them for their wedding website" soon turned into a full blown engagement photo session (which I'll take complete responsibility for). The boys were less than thrilled. Shay carried Kristi's purse around most of the afternoon like my assistant, and Mike got a glimpse of what the wedding day would be like.

Kristi and Mike are so cute together. I mean, they both wore cowboy boots that day - c'mon! Taking their photos felt so effortless and natural. I felt like it was a true example of their relationship... fun, full of love, and genuine! I can't wait to celebrate their marriage over the next year with showers, parties, and the BIG DAY in January.

And now for some bonus non-engagement photos from the botanical garden...
